Since then I entered but had to withdraw from Flora London Marathon 2008 due to injury. After having to take months off to recover I am now ready and willing to become a runner again!Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.comBlogger252125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-71867082027284196832012-01-03T21:19:00.003+00:002012-01-03T21:19:45.357+00:00December stats

I joined the running club and have been going out regularly Tuesdays and Thursdays and running with my friend on Saturday mornings. The running is coming along very well and I couldn't be more happier - well, of course i could really, I could be running faster....but that will come.

I went out for a 9 mile run last Saturday, the longest I have run since getting back into it, and I am very happy with how it went. It wasn't the fastest run in the world, but hey ho, it's all looking good.Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-53471025378944728602011-11-11T07:35:00.002+00:002011-11-11T07:38:07.267+00:00Still running!I'e been out with the running club regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays and been trying to get a longer run in on Saturdays - around 6 miles. All going well at the moment and no sign of the old injury....

Tuesday night was a run in the rain - really quite nice. It was just a drizzle and not at all cold - in fact it was quite a mild evening and it helped to keep me from overheating!

Last night, Thursday, was a good run - I ran with a good little group and the pace was good. We ran 4.25 miles in 42 mins so worked out at 10 min miling. It felt faster but I guess that's because I'm not as fit as I want to be :)

All in all, very happy with my progress.

Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-74756113341865776572011-11-08T22:55:00.000+00:002011-11-08T22:55:35.074+00:00Wet drizzling evening - perfect for a run!
Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-53537757073992436972011-11-04T22:34:00.003+00:002011-11-04T22:38:08.238+00:00ThursdayA shorter run this evening with a small group of the ladies - a nice pace around 10 min miling. It wasn't raining although had been earlier in the day - in fact, could have done with a drizzle as it was actually quite warm!

It was quite dark in patches so there were occasions when we had to walk through a gap in the path leading through to another path and that was reflected in our time.

We did 3 miles in around just over 30 minutes.

Happy with the way my running is going at the moment - of course, I'm very impatient and want to be back to the level I was before being injured but I know it will take time.....Just keep getting out regularly and gradually build up my stamina but most importantly, enjoy it!

Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-68872475167839902102011-11-02T22:13:00.000+00:002011-11-02T22:13:16.862+00:00Tuesday club night by runnersue at Garmin Connect - DetailsTuesday club night by runnersue at Garmin Connect - DetailsSuehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-44738724770435546102011-10-28T21:23:00.004+01:002011-10-28T21:37:30.700+01:00

I've been able to get out 2-3 times a week in the past couple of weeks - I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have done if I hadn't joined the running club especially as the evenings are really drawing in now. The weather has been amazing and is perfect for running - even last night when we had a slight drizzle, it was still great for running.

I'm feeling ok, at the moment. My back aches a little but not sure if that is to do with running - will keep an eye on it. I've not got much speed at the moment but as long as I can cover some miles, the speed will come later.

I've made it to the club Tues and Thurs and would usually run in the morning with my friend but she can't make it.

It was such a lovely evening that I decided to go when I got in from work. I planned on running 5 miles and did one of my favourite routes of all time - changing scenery, hills, and tranquility. I wore my Garmin and kept an eye on the time but unfortunately I couldn't see the mileage (my eyesight is getting worse the older I get) and I went a bit further than the planned 5 miles, actually running 6.6! Very pleased with that. It did start to get a bit dark towards the end of the run and I was happy to be heading home.
Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-47136944215570377142011-10-15T10:42:00.003+01:002011-10-16T10:26:31.693+01:00Saturday morning

The plan was to run 5 miles - however, it was a bit short. Marianne called for me and we ran round to collect Rhona. It started off very cold, there had been a frost overnight and had left a morning mist which looked beautiful and you could see the sun was going to break through later, but for now it was cold.

We ran round the big FM lake going up over the stone bridge through the woods and then back down across the bouncy bridge and round the nature reserve back to home - we are so lucky to have such beautiful runs on our doorstep and i look forward to stretching out the distances and familiarising myself with some of my favourite runs.

I had thought this was a 5 mile run but it only measured 3.75 which means the runs I had been doing on my own were far shorter than I had thought - so, the two runs I had done earlier in the week were my longest runs plus today - so I am feeling very pleased with myself :)

Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-37793081158740545082011-10-15T10:40:00.002+01:002011-10-15T10:42:33.925+01:00ThursdayI was looking forward to the evening when I would be going to the club - hopefully there would be someone at my speed to run with. Marianne was there and another lady ran with us - we did 4.25 miles - I am very happy!Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-70894935877434960492011-10-12T22:36:00.002+01:002011-10-12T22:39:30.916+01:00Running clubI've decided to go to our local running club - i was a member four years ago but had to give up running because of an injury. It's too dark in the morning to run and will soon be too dark after work to run on my own so think it will be better to run with company. I went along on Tuesday and it was lovely to see some old faces still there - I ran with Marianne and Jenny. We just did 3 miles at a nice pace which suited me fine.

Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-36112921846132303432011-10-09T19:06:00.002+01:002011-10-09T19:09:59.078+01:00Still at itI didn't manage to get out this week as it's so dark in the morning and I just don't feel like it after work. I did, however, row on Monday morning followed by my 5 min Abs and 5 min Arm workout - they're great apps and work the muscles.
I cycled to work twice - 3 miles each way and on Wed I did One and half hours Zumba. Friday I rowed again on my water rower and then eventually on Saturday morning I went for a run. The motivation for this was that I was away on Saturday evening with family and knew lots of wine and food would be consumed!

I managed to run round the big lake and the extra bit by the nature reserve - very pleased with myself. At last I can see improvement!
Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-72871764481614331622011-09-30T16:31:00.002+01:002011-09-30T16:34:24.033+01:00Friday 30 September 2011YES, it's been that long since I last posted - probably because I haven't actually been running! It took so long to get over my injury that I completely lost my enthusiasm and mojo - so, what am i doing here I hear you ask...

Well, several pounds heavier I have decided to give it another go...I've been going out regularly for the last month or so and can manage to run (plod) around Ferry Meadows - the short route (2 miles) in the morning on my own twice a week and the longer lake (3 miles) with Rhona on Saturday mornings.

I'm a long way from where I was two years ago but closer than I was when I initially started training for the marathon, so watch this space....

Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-78793609404058584642009-06-11T14:48:00.002+01:002009-06-11T14:52:01.149+01:00Well, I'm being very good this week and have met my target of 2 runs x 4 miles. I must admit, when I looked out the window and saw the rain this morning, it nearly put me off! Still, I would rather have rain than sun, so just got myself ready and got out there before I changed my mind. Not many people about, surprise, no?

For a change I went the other way round today and, my goodness, for some reason it seemed a heck of a lot longer - won't be doing that again!

Still got a slight niggle in the back of my right leg and buttock for for once it seemed to be slightly less today. I am stretching and doing situps when I get back and have been eating very healthy this week, so hopefully the scales will be kind to me tomorrow.....Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-19476733052016568302009-06-06T18:01:00.002+01:002009-06-06T18:07:04.233+01:00Yet another Saturday morning run. How different can the weather be from last week. Actually, I love drizzle, of course, only when I'm running though. It keeps me nice and cool and I have a real problem with heating up when running. Even today, at the end of the run I was very red in the face but i guess that's down to being unfit!

Rhona and I did the 4 mile run that I did on Wednesday, bless her! I hope she's not afraid to say No.

And the best bit, on our way back we ran into our old running partners, Sheila and Laura. They ran back with us for a bit and we had a quick catch-up. Can't wait to be fit enough to be able to run with them again.

After lunch, Steve and I went for a walk - 9 miles. We are in training for the Coast to Coast Walk holiday we have booked for the summer.

Had a bit of sciatica which was very uncomfortable. I have done lots of stretching and just hope it doesn't cause me too many problems.

Think I may sleep well tonight, feeling exhausted!Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-25402843031753276882009-06-03T19:19:00.002+01:002009-06-03T19:21:30.908+01:00Another run on a consecutive day - Yippee!!

Had a late start for work so made the most of it and went for a run this morning. The weather was so much kinder to me today, although I am guessing most people will have been unhappy that the sun has disappeared.

As I was feeling ok, I decided to go a bit further and ran round the lake and up the track into the woods. A little bit of hill work....and a mile or so extra, so feeling well chuffed.Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-20591484407829591682009-06-02T19:52:00.002+01:002009-06-02T19:54:38.346+01:00Yet another Tuesday morning run, still running round the big lake and even thought about going through the Nature Reserve but decided to wait until saturday and do it with Rhona. It was very warm and I am so glad i did it first thing in the morning, I would surely find it very hard to go after work. I have even been cycling to work fairly regularly to and for the past couple of weeks I have been trying very hard on the diet front - hopefully I shall start seeing some results soon!Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-91357725423838895322009-05-30T09:00:00.003+01:002009-05-30T09:02:49.341+01:00What an absolutely fantastic day it is today! I knew it was going to be hot so I arranged with Rhona to meet a 8 am before the sun came out too strong - thank goodness we did, because it was still very warm.

There were loads of people about, a few runners and lots of dog walkers. We did our run round the big lake and think next week we should extend it a bit more to take in the nature reserve. It still seems as hard as ever, my lungs just don't seem to be able to cope but I guess it will get easier....Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-18628096859089519562009-05-28T18:58:00.002+01:002009-05-28T19:01:21.588+01:00Even though it's been some time since I last blogged I have been out running, honestly! Okay, may be not that regularly but this week started with a promise to myself to make sure I go out at least 3 times a week and I've stuck to it so far. Well, I've been out twice this week and plan to go out on Saturday with Rhona.

I even pushed the mileage for today's run, doing 3 miles....no big deal I know, but it's a start.

And I have been cycling to work fairly regularly too.Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-24836335112599007992009-05-12T07:16:00.002+01:002009-05-12T07:19:32.236+01:00What a feeling...Yes, what a wonderful feeling, getting up and running at the start of the day. Not saying it's a good feeling, though, haha! What's good is it's done, what's not good is, it's hard work getting out of my nice warm cozy bed!!!

Still really hard, legs not co-operating and taking tiny weeny little steps - come on legs, get that stride going. And as for the breathing, well, least said the better.

Would be oh so much easier if i wasn't carrying all this extra weight. Decided yesterday (once again) that I really really need to shift it so no wine this week until Saturday....watch this space.Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-19801763797826659802009-05-09T09:14:00.002+01:002009-05-09T09:16:21.286+01:00Getting easier?Saturday morning comes round again....very warm today and the wind has dropped from the past few days. I was really thirsty and wished I had taken a drink of water with me. After going out twice this week, I thought it was time to up the distance...lol. So, we went round the big lake! Haha adds on about 1/2 mile but psychologically it makes a big difference. Didn't feel any worse for it either so perhaps I ought to think about that being my mid-week run. Something to think about....Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-70451963943653816932009-05-07T20:28:00.003+01:002009-05-07T20:29:46.162+01:00Early morning run again!Well, I surprised myself by getting up and going for a run this morning. I really am trying to keep going now. The run itself was mega slow but what the heck, I did it.

It was lovely and peaceful, not many around and a good time to ponder over life.... and plan my next crafting project!Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-89939464637015008202009-05-05T19:00:00.002+01:002009-05-05T19:03:17.321+01:00Early Morning JogWell, I've decided I really need to put in a bit more effort with my running and stop being so lazy, so alarm set and up I got this morning at 10 past 6 and out of the door by 6.30! It wasn't too bad, the weather was ok and don't remember seeing many people about, in fact, can't remember seeing anyone. It's a good time of day to get my thoughts in order - that is when I can stop thinking about how hard it is!

The greatest thing is that it's done and out of the way - next run, Thursday morning.Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-76944319736518655212009-05-02T09:15:00.002+01:002009-05-02T09:18:03.077+01:00Saturday morning slog - er, I mean JOGThe first run in a couple of weeks - wow, where is the time going to, 2 May already! Not been feeling great this last week with a bit of a cold so got a good excuse, but really, I just need to get back into the routine. Must get up in the mornings and go for a run then as when I get home from work it is the last thing I feel like doing.

Today's run was pretty hard, I am still feeling a bit chesty but thought I must get out there. It was quite warm, the sun was out and it really held some warmth in it. So, it's done for today, and I promise myself to get out at least twice during the week.
Suehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16140521672043945207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30410156.post-86039614575279209172009-04-10T10:15:00.002+01:002009-04-10T10:17:17.466+01:00At Last...Met with Rhona and we did out usual little run and I can at last say that I feel there is an improvement - we certainly seemed to be running a little bit faster.
